Endless mode doctrine: surviving past wave 50

The waves never stop — they just get rude. Economy pacing, sustain compositions and cloning-bay management for commanders who measure victories in hours, not mission clears.

Endless is a different game wearing the same maps. Story missions reward burst builds and fast clears; endless punishes them. The leaderboard doesn't care how hard you hit wave 20 — it cares whether your economy, sustain and clone queue survive wave 60.

Economy pacing rules

Endless economy is a curve, not a line: early waves are deliberately cheap so you over-invest — resist. The doctrine: spend under 60% of income through wave 20, bank the difference for the mid-game spike where elite modifiers start stacking. The classic failure is the fully-upgraded early grid that looks invincible until wave 35 arrives with armor scaling that invalidates it. Upgrades beat tower count late; positions beat upgrades early.

Sustain compositions

Burst builds die to wave scaling — endless favors sustained output and damage-over-time. Energy towers and toxic stackers out-value railguns past wave 40; slow fields become mandatory rather than helpful. The squad follows the same logic: Engineer is nearly mandatory for repair auras that keep a mature grid standing through chip waves, and Medic's sustained healing beats every active ability once fights run minutes long. Assault stays for the elite-delete bursts that pacing emergencies demand.

Field note

The Arena Proving Ground runs a fixed endless seed — practicing on it means every run is directly comparable to tournament runs. The leaderboard rewards rehearsal.

The cloning-bay rotation

Veteran endless runners treat hero deaths as a rotation, not a failure: the clone queue becomes a resource to schedule around. The technique — rotate a fresh clone into the squad before a veteran's death matters, so XP loss and downtime land on the cheap hero, not the carry. It feels wrong the first time; it also separates wave-40 players from wave-70 players. Pair it with Medic's revive-window actives and deaths stop being run-enders entirely.

Endless doesn't test how hard you fight. It tests how long your plan survives contact with math.

Asked after this manual

The questions commanders send the desk after reading this guide.

Wave 30 clears the casual bar, 50 is genuinely solid, 70+ puts you on the radar. The Proving Ground leaderboard resets each season, so early entries place well.

Engineer + Medic + Assault is the proven frame — sustain, sustain, and one delete button for emergencies. Hybrid substitutes for Medic on very long runs.

Constantly — the grid that clears wave 20 fails wave 50. Selling obsolete placements funds the armor-answer towers the scaling demands.
